Spring 2020 One Room Challenge Week 7: Bed Refinishing and Artwork

If you’re new and have hopped over from the One Room Challenge, quick, you can catch up! Here are weeks 1, 2, 3, 4, 5/6. If you don’t know what the ORC is, go here!

At the beginning of this One Room Challenge, sponsored by Better Home and Gardens, I thought there was plenty of time to complete a room in eight weeks! I had no idea how fast time would speed forward to today!! It’s been a challenge to fit everything in and still manage my kiddos and work!! However, if you watch my Instagram Stories then you already know that I finally gotten Sophia’s bed painted and that there may be a fabric change happening.

Current Progress: Painting Sophia’s Bed

Here’s what’s going on right now: Sophia’s bed is finally painted and we moved it into her room! She’s very happy to have a bed again and not to be sleeping on a mattress on the floor!! I used Sherwin Williams Emerald Designer Edition paint in a satin finish. If you follow me on IG then you saw the process in my stories. I’ll add the videos to a highlight, hopefully today!?

Making Custom Fabric Selections

We started off the week by visiting my fabric warehouse and looking for some additional textiles to finish off the room. Sophia fell in love with some really soft fabrics, so I may be making two window seat covers!! We will have my favorite and her favorite. We pulled together some additional fabrics she liked for pillows as well.

Still not sure how I am getting all of this done, especially since my upholsterer was closed Friday and I couldn’t drop off the fabric for the seat cushion so it looks like I’ll be making it myself!!

Artwork is underway and I’m still not certain where everything is going, she wants sooooo much Pokeman and Minecraft artwork in her room I told her we may have to redo the playroom to use it in there! Soon to be 13 and not wanting anything girlie has been a complete challenge. I don’t usually do theme rooms and while Sophia’s room is not a theme room, I definitely want to incorporate the things she loves and do it in a sophisticated way …. so we will have Pokeman and Minecraft. I was able to buy downloadable prints on Etsy and Sophia was thrilled!
