Spring 2020 One Room Challenge Week 4: The Halfway Point

Welcome! We’re about halfway to the finish of the Spring 2020 One Room Challenge now, sponsored by Better Homes and Gardens ! I shared the original room and design plan in Week 1, did a change up to the design plan in Week 2, and had some adventures with wallpapering the ceiling in Week 3! The walls are painted, the ceiling is papered, Sophia’s dresser arrived and is in her room and I decided to buy a new nightstand to refinish instead of buying and shipping through one of my vendors. Shipping was going to be almost as much as the piece itself so I was lucky to find a piece through a local trade showroom that I immediately knew I could use my spray gun on, so we will see how that goes tomorrow and this weekend.

Teen Girl Bedroom Refresh: The Rendering

I had my rendering artist do a hand rendering of Sophia’s room so she could see what it will look like or close to what it will look like when it’s all done. She told me tonight when I put her to bed that even though she just has her mattress and new dresser in her room, she loves her new room already! Way to make a mama’s heart happy!!

We still haven’t decided if we are painting her built-ins in the Sherwin Williams Emerald White Sand or if we are going to go with a gray tone. I think I’ll let Sophia decide after they are finished and primed.

I ordered the West Elm Modernist Dresser for Sophia. It was the grown up look she wanted and still provided the kind of storage she wanted.

What’s to Come…

I still have a lot to do so there will be a lot of ordering and now that school is out …. painting artwork and framing those pieces! Items still remaining on my list.

  • Built-Ins

  • Area rug/fun Moroccan rug

  • Mirror/square brass to bring a little light into the room (this may not happen, Sophia doesn’t want a mirror in her room.)

  • Lamps/mismatched, black and she needs to choose a desk lamp

  • Window seat fabric/Awesome Designer’s Guild fabric to tie in the colors from the artwork Sophia selected last year

  • Hand painted artwork

  • Frames/frame existing artwork we already have and new artwork we will make

  • Paint bed frame/keeping her bed

  • Paint the nightstand

Thanks for stopping by and make sure to check out the other participants in the One Room Challenge!
