A design consultation is the first step in our process for a full scope design project or can be only a consultation to get you started on your own. This is an in-depth home visit, in which we’ll get together in your home to explore your needs and desires for your space. Susan will then give you her professional verbal recommendations for your project or renovation during this working meeting.  This may include:

  • A walk through of your home

  • A discussion of each room's function, the existing furniture pieces, and new furniture recommendations

  • Paint color selections, window treatments, and ideas for lighting

  • Estimating an approximate budget

  • Answering any questions you may have

After this initial consultation, you’ll have the information you need to proceed with your project and you’ll have an idea what your budget will allow to proceed with a full scope design project.  You’ll have a written design summary to execute on your own or move forward with a full scope design service when we’re finished.

INVESTMENT: $399. Approximate length: 2 hours. To schedule a consultation, email

You have the main furniture pieces, but your home doesn’t yet feel cohesive and in sync with your unique style. You are happy to do all the ordering and installation yourself, but you’d love some design direction. What if you could work with an award winning interior designer for one day? Here’s how it works. It starts with a design questionnaire, you sending photos of your space, and images that evokes the feeling you want your home to reflect. Then Susan will call you to touch base and answer any questions. The design day starts in the morning with a walkthrough of your space and a conversation about your goals. Then comes measurements, floor planning and furniture placement. Then, based on your goals, together you’ll discuss furnishings, architectural features, wall papers, paint colors, window treatments, artwork, and lighting as needed. When Susan leaves, you’ll have a list of actionable instructions that you and Susan have discussed and planned together so you can execute the design plan on your own schedule.

Investment: $999 up to 2 rooms up to 350 sq feet. If you’ve happen to have an unusually large space or layout, please inquire for a custom quote. Email to begin.

What if you could talk to an expert, if you could get clear and simple guidance, if you could have face to face access to an award winning designer at a price you can afford?  This Ask Me Anything session includes up to one hour for as many questions as will fit. This session is flexible and free flow and I encourage you to take notes. Here are some questions you may have.

  • You want to know how to arrange your furniture to make the best use of your space.

  • You aren’t sure of your decorating style.

  • You feel overwhelmed thinking about what color to put on your walls, and are tired of living with builder beige.

  • You have blank walls or artwork hung too high.

  • You want to have a beautiful space but think having kids makes that impossible.

  • More information about how my design process works.

Here's how it works. First, you’ll schedule by email,  pay, answer a few basic questions, and send photos of your space. Then, we will connect via Skype or Facetime for an hour and dig into your questions. If you'd like to use this session to inquire about Full Service Interior Design, I'll apply the cost of this session toward the total project price.

Investment: $199. Schedule by email:

At a minimum, a project usually takes 4-6 months to complete from the initial consultation through the presentation of the client binder.  New construction can take as long as two years to complete.

Most of my work is predominantly located in Charlotte, NC and surrounding cities of Columbia, Gastonia, and Charleston. Please note that travel fees apply to all areas outside of Charlotte.

I don’t have a particular signature style. It is so important to me to assess your needs and provide a design plan that puts function first and is also a beautiful transformation for your life.

Many projects begin with just one room. My job is to develop a design plan that is unique to who you are and how you live, and I can work with you to implement your design plans room by room.

One of my favorite things to do is working with existing pieces and repurpose or reimagine them if it is possible to do so and if they work with the new design direction.  I do this in almost every project I work on.

I charge a flat fee for residential design services determined by the scope of the project.  This is determined from assessing the time and resources to provide you with a beautifully finished project. The fee will be outlined in your letter of agreement at the start of the project.  For full scope interior design, I handle the purchase management for your design project. I will provide you with a detailed proposal that outlines your selections costs. This is presented at the final design presentation.

Susan has a beautiful eye. She was able to help me see existing pieces of furniture in a new light - helping me keep family heirlooms - making them work in my new home. She kept in mind my husband’s very sensible nature and made fantastic recommendations that have enhanced the enjoyment of our home. I would hire Susan any day!
