Spring 2021 One Room Challenge Week 4: Slow but Steady Gaming Room Renovation

This past week has been SLOW, painfully slow without a lot to show. I know this next few weeks things will really progress, but a week like this is honestly a little scary! Halfway through the with so much left to do! The red oak plywood from ITC Millwork, for the TV platform is arriving TODAY!! AND, the custom stain I am having mixed to match the red oak and the birch plywood should be ready today to pick up as well! WOOHOO!! Fingers crossed that they look close … I guess there is always the paint option, AM I RIGHT?

Update: Custom Snack Station Cabinet

We were able to get the snack station cabinet built with Kenny, who owns Interior Woods and installed. We also were able to install most of the cove crown. Super excited about that so we can get the led lights in there for Sophia. Luis with Instyle came yesterday to template for the countertop! I chose a quartz remanant that has some pretty veining in it and will look great with the tile backsplash.

I still have NOT ordered the hardwood for the hallway. Not one of my guys can install because they are so busy. One installer told me he would do it for $1,200!!! 230 sf. of hardwood with no demo and no shoe mould; install cost should be about $450. It needs to go down before carpet can go in and not one of my flooring guys can install, so it looks like we might be doing it OURSELVES! On top of all of that, I have tennis elbow! Basically, my tendon is inflammed and I had my sports therapist work on it and I’m icing a lot so hopefully it will see me through the next four weeks!

If you are late to the party, you can catch up on the previous three weeks here: Week One, Week Two, Week Three.

Thank you to our sponsors: Apt2B, Calico, The Designers Marketplace, Louver Shop, Sew Ordinary, Legrand, Hudson Valley Lighting, Crystorama, Tile Shop, Interior Woods, Kelly Moore Paint, Build with Ferguson, Minted.

Stay Tuned…

Still so much to do. Hopefully we’ll be able to accomplish a lot this coming week! FINGERS CROSSED!! Make sure you check out the progress of the other Featured Designers, maybe they’ve had better luck this past week!
